Job Profile Summary
CAI is seeking a Senior Microsoft developer who has deep and hands-on experience with PowerBI, SSIS, and SSRS. The candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of a financially based COTS product. This individual would be working with one of our state government partners. The COTS product used is a highly rules-based configurable architecture that uses several third-party products, including Microsoft’s reporting and interface tools. Additionally, it incorporates a SQL Server database. We are seeking someone who is a quick study and can learn all individual product components, as well as how these individual components integrate.
- Ensuring the stability, availability, and reliability of the IRAS system.
- Product configuration and customization
- Update product rules using Blaze rules engine.
- Create, maintain, and tune quality SQL Server reporting deliverables using PowerBI and SSRS
- Create, maintain, and tune complex T-SLQ SQL Server based custom reports and stored procedures.
- Create, maintain, and tune interfaces with SSIS based interfaces and stored procedures.
- Accurately develop MS SQL Server T-SQL database queries, reports, data loads/extracts in a logical manner from scratch.
- Participate in the successful configuration, release, and maintenance of a new COTS system.
- Primary focus will be on maintenance and support, fixing defects, and adding system enhancements.
- Write program specifications.
- Definition, extraction, development, loading, testing, and implementation of business rules
- Ongoing issue identification and resolution
Duties and Responsibilities
Working in a team environment, you will have the opportunity to participate in the successful configuration, release, and maintenance of the system. The primary focus will be on maintenance and support, fixing defects for code logic, reports, and interfaces, and adding system enhancements.
Leveraging your strong problem-solving skills, organizational abilities, and attention to detail, you will work with the client to gather and validate requirements, validate designs, and configure/customize the solution. Specific responsibilities may include:
- Business Process definition
- Creation of reports (SSRS and PowerBI)
- Development of external interfaces (SSIS)
- Analyze and design new or existing system enhancements
- Work closely with the user to define requirements
- Write program specifications.
- Assist in the scoping and development of work plans
- Definition, extraction, development, loading, testing, and implementation of business rules
- Product configuration and customization
- Ongoing issue identification and resolution
- Documentation and knowledge transfer
- Maintain or modernize current systems, including developing a production run or modernization roadmap and business case
Duties and Responsibilities
- 7 years of experience as a Senior Database Analyst/Architect
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject
- A strong SQL developer who can quickly come up to speed on an existing and complex SQL Server database underlying a leading financial based COTS product
- Extensive experience in all aspects of Oracle PL/SQL programming and query manipulation.
- Some experience working with a SQL Server database, MS Server Power BI, SSRS, and SSIS
- Extensive experience working with large sets of data and resolving data-oriented issues.
- Extensive experience in tuning queries for optimal performance
- Ability to work directly with business users to translate business reporting requests/requirements into a backend database design that clearly identifies database object impacts
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral

Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, CIS, MIS, or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Guidance and mentorship to more junior developers
- Strong SQL knowledge and skills
- Strong and hands-on expertise with Microsoft PowerBI, SSRS, and SSIS.
- Create new and maintain/tune existing T-SQL queries and procedures
- Create and maintain existing T-SQL based custom reports and extracts
- Knowledge of standard development techniques (OOD, SDLC, OOPS)
- Familiarity with one or more programming languages (i.e., JAVA, C#, ASP.NET, XML)
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience working with BLAZE rules engine
- Experience working with financial-focused systems
- Experience working with a packaged application
- Experience gathering business requirements, documenting “as is” and “to be” business processes and developing use cases
- Experience with the development/harvesting of business rules and design of applications using rules engines (BLAZE)
- Knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines affecting the status of unemployment compensation benefits claims.
Physical Demands

- Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
