“I feel I am lucky to have found CAI early into this process.”

In his early education, Kyle didn’t think much about what career path he wanted to pursue. It wasn’t until teachers began discussing next steps after high school that he started to contemplate it more seriously. When he finished high school, it felt logical to gravitate toward his interests. He decided to pursue application programming and web development.

Once he began taking college courses and diving into tool-specific certifications, Kyle could see his future career taking shape. He enjoyed what he was learning and knew there were many jobs available in IT.

While working toward his degree, Kyle took quality assurance jobs and looked for companies that would offer him strong employment. Simultaneously, the stories on the news illustrated the chaos caused by hacking and database breaches in high-profile companies. This piqued his interest in cybersecurity and led him to pursue certifications in application security and network security.

“Once I finally felt complaisant with my level of education, I took rapid steps to finding serious employment,” Kyle explains, “I feel I am lucky to have found CAI early into this process.”

In the midst of his ongoing job search toward a new career path, Kyle learned about CAI and the opportunities we offer through his father. After reaching out to learn more about CAI Neurodiverse Solutions, Kyle immediately got an informative response. This really stood out to him, as past interactions with employers and clientele had been less than ideal. CAI’s prompt communication confirmed Kyle’s interest in moving forward in the process.

As Kyle began the Talent Discovery Session (TDS), CAI Team Lead Kimberly Acri noticed his collaboration, teamwork, and leadership when completing assignments. She described him as always engaged and polite, as well as asking the right questions to both his team members and instructors. At the time, Kimberly was actively filling a security role. Kyle’s cybersecurity background and his impressive TDS performance led to his Security Testing Analyst role with CAI at enGen.

“I greatly enjoy what I do. I work with very smart people, who have helped me to the level I’m at now. I love learning new things in this field everyday – on and off hours. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

In this role, Kyle coordinates and performs security testing for specific web-based applications owned by enGen. He also ensures smooth communication with members of the development team informing them of arising vulnerabilities and assisting with remediation of potential threats. In his first few months, Kyle excelled so much that his manager added more applications to his portfolio, increasing his responsibility.

“Kyle has been a great addition to our team in the Platform Quality Engineering division,” says Kimberly. “He’s learning quickly and is becoming a valued member of his teams. Kyle has a good career path ahead of him in the security field.”

Learning is a lifelong value for Kyle. His personal mantra is “every day teaches a new lesson.” From managers to co-workers, Kyle feels supported by all his team members through their helpfulness and advice.

“I learned at a pace I was more than comfortable with,” Kyle said. “Open communication has also provided many opportunities to learn about tools and services not exclusive to our team. The combined resources of both CAI and enGen has provided an amazing catalog for both education and assistance.”

Part of what Kyle enjoys most about his role as a Security Testing Analyst is the opportunity to conduct research and development in potential tools and present the findings to his team. This allows him to keep his finger on the pulse of the ever-changing landscapes of technology and cybersecurity. Kyle has found a career that gives him a structured and dynamic work environment, with the promise of learning new things every day.

“I greatly enjoy what I do. I work with very smart people, who have helped me to the level I’m at now,” Kyle says. “I love learning new things in this field everyday – on and off hours. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Kyle has done so well within his role that in May 2023, enGen extended to him a new contract to continue in his role and hired him directly.
